Ringing in the New Year

As we approached 2015 Drew and I were so excited about what this year might hold. Unfortunately we didn't start it the way we thought! Drew had to start work on the 2nd so we left my parents house on New Year's Eve. By now we are all used to driving in the car for 14 hours at a time but this was far more than we could handled. As we were driving home from Arizona there was a huge storm. The roads started to get dicey. We drove through and small town and we both had the same impression that we should fill our car up with gas. We usually would have waited until we drove through Kingman, AZ. Things were still looking good even with the snow, until we were about 35 miles away from Kingman when we completely stopped. This is us 8 hours later celebrating the New Year! We look delirious!
We remained that way for the next 14 hours.
Lila and Nora were amazing! Seriously there was no room for them to do anything in the car and they took it like champs. I didn't have any food in the car for them. We were planning on stopping in Kingman to get dinner and We didn't get dinner until 5:30 the next morning. We had to ration the tootsie rolls that I had in my purse. This was a great wake up call for us. No more traveling without provisions. We also vowed to never take a road trip in the good old yellow submarine. So besides the lack and food and the many bathroom issues we were incredibly blessed! We stayed warm (thanks to the prompting to fill our car up), we had water, we were safe (even while driving on NO sleep), and we had Netflix. The Lord seriously watched out for our little family.
After driving for over 24 hours we made it home in one piece. Thank goodness for hot showers, we had never wanted a shower so badly in our lives.

"Bathroom issues." I wish you would expand on that one! ;)
But seriously, I cannot believe that happened to you guys! Definitely blog worthy!
