Pomegranates Are Yummy!!!

Allison Clonts gave us a big bag of pomegranates from her tree. Drew and I were so excited because we just watched "Good Eats" on the Food Network and our favorite guy Alton Brown taught us how to make juice, grenadine, and glazes. We decided to try out his crafty techniques.

First you cut the ends off each side then make four slices down the fruit. (don't cut all the way through or you will have a big mess)

The get a bowl of water and gently start breaking apart the fruit and remove the seeds. Place seeds in the blender (isn't my assistant so CUTE!!!)

Pulse a fews time to burst the seeds release the juice.

Now if you want to make Grenadine add fours cups of juice, 1 Tbs fresh Lemon juice, 1/2 cup of sugar and place over medium heat. Once the sugar has dissolved lower heat a little and let it cook for 50 mins or until if reduces to 1 1/2 cups.

You have juice and grenadine for Shirley Temples.

I feel like I am on food network. I thought it was fun and suggest you try it. Your kitchen may be covered in pink juice but it's so pretty.

Hi Alicia
I agree pomegranates are super yummy! I always make a mess with them, so I started buying just the seeds at costco! Lame I know!
